The Countdown is Underway

...and I'm feeling the pinch! Releasing a new book is always nerve-wracking, simply because perfect strangers are now reading the part of you that you put down on (virtual) paper. But there's also a lot of "things" that need to be done to make it happen. And did I mention that it's the Thanksgiving holiday this week in the US? And I have family coming to stay... All of this combined leads to me looking like this: Dani Wade, frazzled female, overwhelmed, busy woman, working mom   But regardless of whether it all gets done, BENEATH THE SURFACE will be live on Sunday, Nov. 30th! I've got a lot of cool things planned, including some guest posts that you'll find out about here on the blog. For the first time, I'll be hostessing a big Release Day party on Facebook from 4 to 7pm with some fellow authors! Lots of giveaways and fun, fun stuff. You won't want to miss it, so friend my profile here to receive an invite. Hopefully the next time you see me, my hair will be less crazy... Dani

Interested in some Advanced Reading?

Over the next few months, some very exciting things are happening. I’ve got 3 book releases in the next 4 months, and several more next year. I’m overwhelmed at the thought of experiencing all of this with my readers, and I want you to have the chance to share in this excitement with me! I’m offering a few select readers the chance to read these books early! I’m starting my very own Advanced Review Team, and I’d love for you to be a part. That means you’d get the chance to read my upcoming books BEFORE RELEASE DAY! All I ask is that you leave an honest review of the book on Amazon on the actual release day. Advanced Review Team, Dani Wade, romance readers, romance authors Does the thought of free books pique your interest? Well, here’s what you do:
  1. Sign up for my newsletter (if you haven’t already).
Only newsletter members are eligible for this special opportunity. I assume if you’re interested in my books, you’re interested in information on upcoming releases and events. Newsletter members only receive an email every 4 to 6 weeks, so no spamming. (P.S. Joining my newsletter means getting a FREE novella too—SNOW BOUND, part of my Small Town Secrets series.)
  1. Then send an email to readdaniwade (at) gmail.com with the subject: Advance Reading Team.
In the body of the email, tell me why you would like to join and what type of my books you’d like to read. ART members have the option of reading my sexy suspense books, my contemporary romances (Harlequin Desires), OR BOTH. Your choice! Also tell me what file type you need. That’s it! Easy peasy. All I ask is that you be willing to read and honestly review my books. What happens after you join?
  1. I will send out an email when a new release is scheduled.
  1. I’ll send an ARC of the book approximately 2-3 weeks before the release day.
  1. You get to read it! Yay!
  1. I’ll send you a final email the day before the book releases. This is a reminder e-mail to let you know your review should be posted to Amazon and any other e-book retailers or sites you feel comfortable posting to (Goodreads, B&N, ARE, etc.), on the following day. You can even write it ahead of time and have it ready to copy and paste on release day.
  1. ART members may also get exclusive access to some content or special surprises. You’ll have to join to see…
That’s it! Does this mean I expect all 5 star reviews? No. Not everyone will love my books (though I hope you actually like them if you sign up), and not everyone will enjoy all my books equally. As a life-long reader, I completely understand that. It’s another reason why I’m giving readers the option of which of my books they’d like to read. Not everyone loves both those genres. But reader reviews seriously help a book get noticed on Amazon! It helps other readers know what to anticipate in a story and whether it will fit their reading tastes. The number of reviews can also help authors when we apply for certain promotional opportunities. Every review I get on my books is a blessing—one for which I’m deeply grateful. All I ask is that you be honest, and don’t post any spoilers. So, are you with me? Readers who join now will get to read the first in my Small Town Secrets series, BENEATH THE SURFACE, this month! In upcoming months, my next Harlequin Desire will be ready—THE BLACKSTONE HEIR. And the next Backstage Pass book featuring Nate. So don’t wait! Send me that email now, and join the team. I can’t wait to get to know you and share special sneak peaks of my upcoming releases! Dani

A Little Break

Busy, busy past week with a big Halloween party for my teenager and a wonderful readers' luncheon last Saturday. Including my sister Ella Sheridan's first print signing! Reader Events, book signing, Ella Sheridan, romance authors We had a great time with the readers at our table! And dinner with some fellow authors that was entertaining and a great way to fill the well. But I'm still overloaded, so I'll keep this short and sweet. For those of you who have the same affliction:  :) Introverts, romance authors, needing space

Football Friday? No Thanks

That scary time has once more reached us in the Southern US. No, I’m not talking about Halloween…It’s Football Season! SEC fans are fanatical in the deep South, to the point that families split over rivalries. Scary, scary times. football, football friday, SEC, southerners I’m a rarity in my neck of the woods—a woman who couldn’t give a lick about football (high school, college, or otherwise). But don’t tell any of my neighbors, or I’ll be in for a yard trashin’, at the very least. Luckily, my hubby overlooks this major flaw in favor of some of my other, um, talents. I never know how to answer the “Alabama or Auburn” question, because people around here don’t respond well to “why the hell would I care?” So I simply say my husband’s favorite, because I trust his judgment in these matters.  :) Heck, I only started attending the local high school football games when Book Worm joined the marching band. Did you know there are people who don’t have kids in school ho go to those games? It boggles my mind. football, football Friday, SEC, southerners I’m sure I’m an alien to them too. A working woman and mother who spends all her time with her hands on the keyboard or mind busy dreaming up stories. I do enjoy 1 part of football though: those sculpted male bodies in skin tight athletic pants. That I can watch for a bit! LOL Are you a football fan? Do you have a fanatical follower in your house? Dani My author friend Andrea Laurence has an awesome new book out featuring a former professional football player turned coach and the sexy rock star who wrote a song denigrating his man parts. It’s hilarious! Check it out on Amazon here. Andrea Laurence, Facing the Music, rock star romance, football romance In this sizzling and hilarious contemporary e-book romance, pop sensation Ivy Hudson returns to her small town to face her ex. Only trouble is, she made her Taylor-Swift-like career with the hit song “Size Matters”—and the football hero has had to live it down ever since. Six years ago, high school sweethearts Ivy and Blake’s relationship imploded and both their lives were changed forever. Ivy became a rock star and Blake lost not only his dreams of a successful NFL career, but his reputation. Ivy’s angry song about their breakup, called “Size Matters,” hit the top of the charts and Blake became a national laughingstock. He’s salvaged his career and returned to Rosewood to be the high school football coach, regaining his status as town hero and leading the boys to the state championships. When a tornado whips through town and destroys the high school gymnasium and stadium, a committee is formed to help rebuild and plan some charity fundraisers. Blake’s grandmother requests that Ivy return to Rosewood for the events. Forced back together for the good of their hometown and their careers, Ivy and Blake have no choice but to put aside their differences, stop running from their pasts, and finally face the music. For fans of Kristen Proby and Colette Auclair, Facing the Music hits a perfect balance between small-town romance and big-time success. Follow Ivy and Blake as they fall back in love and figure out what does matter in the end…

My Sexy Saturday-Settling the Score

This week’s My Sexy Saturday features a Sexy Halloween. All the spooky, scary stuff that can happen to disrupt our characters’ lives. Halloween doesn’t appear in any of my books, but the hero and heroine in my second Backstage Pass book face a very scary villain—a man who has spent most of his life in a mental institution and has a big ol’ axe to grind. Settling the Score, Backstage Pass, rock star romance, Dani Wade, sexy romantic suspense Here are Daniel and Becca of SETTLING THE SCORE facing the aftermath of some of his crazy: Finally the fireman spoke, his tone hushed despite the chaos of the scene before them. “I’m just speculating at the moment. They’ll know more once everything dies down and it’s inspected. But looks like the fire started along the wall separating the studio and the wide hallway before you came to the kitchen.” “How extensive is the damage?” Daniel asked. The husky tone of his voice made her wince inside. She ached to go to him, wrap her arms around him and hold on tight, but she was afraid. So many people were around; what if Daniel rejected her? After all, even Michael was watching him with a wary eye. “Some of the items on the top floor might be salvageable. But it will all be smoke and water damaged. Basically you’ll have to tear it down and start over. The room was just too integral to the rest of the house. So even though it wasn’t totally destroyed either, there’s just too much of a mess.” Oh, Daniel. All his memorabilia, his guitars and equipment, pictures, even his clothes. How much would they be able to save? Unable to hold back any longer, Becca slipped up to his side like a ghost. Her arms fit perfectly around him, and she held on tight. The men continued to talk, but she didn’t hear a word. She could only concentrate on the feel of Daniel’s arm as it slipped around her, rubbing up and down her back. His musky scent edging out the sting of smoke. Just who was comforting whom? Finally the fireman headed back to the truck, leaving Becca standing alone with the brothers. Michael glanced at them. “Why don’t we head out to the house? Y’all can get cleaned up. Eat. The insurance adjuster can get in touch with you. How about it?” For long moments Daniel continued to stare at the house; then he looked down at her, revealing the pain darkening his baby blues. For once he didn’t even glance at his brother. “I’ll be at Becca’s if you need me,” he said, then led her back to the car.  SU Solo png Blurb: Daniel Korvello isn’t your average Joe with a case of unrequited lust. He’s a rock star front man who wonders if his publicist will ever see him as anything other than a job. Then they team up to hunt down a threat to Daniel’s family...and he seizes the chance to show her he’s up for more than just a one night stand. Becca Buchanan already lived through one rock-star scandal with her reputation barely intact. She’s determined never to put herself, or her family, through that again. Only she can’t deny the desire she feels for Daniel. When he exposes the molten heat beneath her Ice Maiden exterior, she may never be able to freeze him out again. Then their amateur investigation takes a dangerous turn that threatens the lives of those they both love. Can their newfound trust extend past the bedroom? Can Daniel let go of his guilt enough to embrace a future with Becca?   SETTLING THE SCORE (and the other Backstage Pass books) are available at Amazon, B&N, and other online retailers. Don’t forget to sign up for my author newsletter to receive a free novella—a first taste of my upcoming Small Town Secrets series. And check out more of My Sexy Saturday here.   Dani

Here’s Your Sign, Volume 2

Signs can be some of the funniest examples of communication—I’m sure you’ve noticed. They can have hidden, unintended meaning, or they can be deliberately humorous on several levels. Some of you may remember the sign blog I did with Ella Sheridan after our trip to Ireland last year. It was so fun to do, we’ve decided to indulge our funny bones once more with Volume 2 from Savannah, GA, earlier this month. I hope you enjoy our southern version of Here’s Your Sign. To see the other half of the blog, go to www.ellasheridanauthor.com for more funnies!   True Grits, Savannah, GA, romance authors, Ella Sheridan, Dani Wade                 A true southern place! When I think of cookies (especially those as yummy as the ones in this place), I don't think of eating like a bird. Far from it. I polished off a package in a few hours.   Velvet Elvis Lounge, Savannah, GA, romance authors, Ella Sheridan, Dani Wade                 In the south, Velvet Elvis's are practically treasure. Stirring Creativity Through Travel

Last week, my mother, sisters, niece, and daughter hit the road! We left the boys behind and enjoying a girls’ only trip to historic Savannah, GA. Savannah 5Savannah 1 Savannah is a city of old Southern values, quirky traditions, modern entertainment, and beautiful views. Visiting it has a similar feel to some of the cities I saw in Ireland, where forests and water happily coincide. But the sheer spirit of the city seemed peaceful and quiet to me, even with all the people (and dogs) there. Savannah 3 With every trip I take, I find myself facing a dichotomy within myself. You see, I’m a full blown introvert. I enjoy people in small doses, because prolonged exposure seriously wipes out my energy levels. At the same time, I love to travel, see new places, and meet new people. Savannah 6 As a creative soul, I enjoy absorbing the atmosphere, the colors and traditions of different places. Its one of the things that “refills my well”.  I think I also love it, because it also breaks me out of my daily grind. I forget all the bathrooms I have to clean, all the mindless typing for my day job, and ‘extras’ that come along with a job as an author. New places and sights clear my mind and spark my imagination.  So, though I can’t indulge as often as I’d like, travel is definitely one of my favorite pastimes. Savannah 2 Where is your favorite place to visit? I’d love to have new cities to explore! Dani FYI: Tune in next week for a special edition of 'Funny Signs of Savannah', a co-blog with author Ella Sheridan!
